Mind-Body (Holistic) Services

In an age where stress seems rampant throughout society, more and more people are recognizing the need for holistic approaches to help them improve their overall health. Through the use of two main holistic techniques – Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or Tapping) – clients are encouraged to regain control over their lives in powerful and life-changing ways. These mind-body techniques help clients release various stress points that are being held in their bodies, which can ultimately lead to a more relaxed, balanced life. Neither NET nor EFT are psychotherapy, and they do not involve any type of counseling, psychology, or medical guidance of any sort.  However, they can both be highly effective adjuncts to traditional psychotherapy.

Disclosure: Please be advised that these holistic methods are not intended to be substitutes for medical or psychological diagnosis and treatment, and they do not replace the services of licensed health care professionals. Although these holistic methods appear to have promising physical, mental, and emotional benefits, and there is a growing amount of valid scientific research indicating that these methods meet the criteria to be considered evidence-based techniques, they have yet to be fully researched by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities. Therefore, the energy methods described on this website are considered experimental and the extent of their effectiveness, as well as their risk and benefits, are not fully known.

Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)

Neuro Emotional Technique, or NET, is a mind-body technique that uses a methodology of finding and removing neurological imbalances related to the physiology of unresolved stress patterns. Through the use of manual muscle testing, NET can help identify involuntary physiological responses, thereby gently guiding clients to a deeper discovery of their current struggle(s).  The ultimate goal of NET is to correct the neuro emotional complex (NEC) – imprinted emotional information that affects physiological function – so the client can process and release stress-related issues.

NET is not – nor is it a substitute for – psychotherapy, and it does not involve any type of counseling, life coaching, or psychological testing of any sort. However, NET can be a powerful adjunct to the psychotherapy process. Clients have the option of including NET in any of their traditional counseling sessions, or seeking out NET as a stand-alone wellness service. Individual NET-only sessions can range from 20-30 minutes in length to a full 45 minutes, and they work best when clients have a specific issue or problem they would like to address.

If you are interested in learning more about NET, or would like to experience the NET difference, please contact me to schedule your session. For more detailed information about NET, or to see a live video demonstration of what a NET session looks like, please visit www.NETmindbody.com.

Please note that due to the muscle testing utilized in NET, this service is only offered in-office. Virtual NET sessions are not offered at this time.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Techniques, which are commonly referred to as “tapping”, are powerful holistic techniques whose roots stem from traditional Chinese medicine, specifically acupuncture. According to Chinese medicine, our body is made up of various meridians. These meridians connect to our organ systems and act as pathways for energy to flow throughout our body. When we are afflicted by physical or emotional stressors, the energy can become “stuck” along one or more meridians. Just as acupuncture uses needles to help restore energy flow along these meridians, tapping on certain acupoints (typically in the face, upper torso, and occasionally the fingers) provides clients with “emotional acupuncture”, thereby encouraging the body to release these stuck points and assisting clients in reconnecting to life in a more positive, balanced way.

While EFT is not – nor is it a substitute for – medical or psychological treatment, clients often find that EFT offers faster relief from active stressors or overwhelming emotions. Tapping acts as a form of gentle somatic stimulation, providing clients with an effective way to calm the “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In addition, not only does EFT have the potential of producing long-lasting results, it is also a great way for clients to become active participants in their own healing journey.

EFT is available to clients both in-office and virtually (via phone or video sessions).

Parental Bereavement

No parent can ever prepare for the death of a child…period.

When a child dies, a parent’s world is shattered. There are no words, no explanations, no information that can ever make sense out of a child dying before a parent.  This is a painful journey that no parent should have to face alone.

Many bereaved parents experience an outpouring of love immediately following a child’s death, only to then feel abandoned and alone following the memorial service and/or funeral.  It is common for even the best-intentioned friend or family member to unknowingly say the “wrong” thing or to slowly back away from a bereaved parent in order to avoid the painful emotions, but this only magnifies the pain a bereaved parent feels.  Regardless of the reason for the death, a part of a parent dies when a child dies…and just as a limb cannot regrow after being amputated, nothing can fill the void that exists once a child is no longer in a parent’s life.

If you have suffered the death of a child, please contact me to discuss how I might be of assistance to you in your journey towards healing.  While counseling cannot bring back your beloved child, it can help you to feel less alone in your pain.  I would be honored to walk this difficult journey with you so that…one day…you can breathe just a little easier once again.
